Condition:

In fantastic condition with some light signs of wear. The compartments do not close completely snugly, as shown in photos. There is some light tarnish at the interior joins, all consistent with age and use. Crisp hallmarks are visible on every silver component. All four compartments retain their original glass inserts: one large compartment for pens, two for ink wells, and a smaller section likely intended for nibs or other small items. The lid of the large compartment is engraved: “Presented by the Chairman of the Royal Commission on Wheat Supplies to Sir Arthur. W. Holmes, K.B.E Director of Contracts 1916–1921.”
